It Takes Tenacity to get Unstuck in Life

Good Morning,

One of the things I love about coaching people is helping them get unstuck in life.  As we spend time discovering passions, direction and strategies for moving forward there is one thing as a coach that I cannot give my clients.  And that is tenacity.  Without it not much real progress will be made.

Zig Ziglar was a top salesman, author, motivator and public speaker. Odds are that many of you have read at least one of the over two-dozen books he wrote. His work continues to be an inspiration to millions of people.  Here are just a couple of Ziglar's famous quotes:

"Remember that failure is an event, not a person.

Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.

In reading his book "Over the Top" and I was struck by something in the early introductory section that was not even the main focus of the book.  He states that this book is the result of a half century of work including information gained over a twenty-five year period of reading and researching an average of 3 hours every day.

Did you catch that? Every day for twenty-five years he refused to be complacent.  He committed himself to learning, growing and improving so he could be the best he could be and in turn help other people be the best they could be.  He did not become famous and highly sought after by accident.  He actually lived by one his own core principles: "Character gets you out of bed; commitment moves you to action. Faith, hope and discipline enable you to follow through to completion."

Former Indiana coach Bob Knight says, "The will to win is nothing without the will to prepare to win."

It is easy to want more out of life; more out of your marriage; more out of your career or make more of an impact on your world.  The reality is that too few of us approach life with the kind of resolve it takes to bring that about.

Is there anything in your life that you want bad enough to go after with Zig Ziglar’s type of tenacity?  I hope there is and I hope you do.

Live this week on purpose,

Ron
